Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond Anime Listed With 12 Episodes

The official website for the anime of Yasuhiro Nightow's Blood Blockade Battlefront manga revealed the DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases for the second anime season, Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, on Sunday. According to the home video listings, the anime will have 12 episodes. The first of six home video volumes is slated for February 17 in Japan with the first two episodes, audio commentary, clean opening sequence, teaser promotional video, television spot, promotional video, pre-broadcast promotional video, and bonuses for the limited first pressing (an exclusive 24-page booklet and an early ticket application voucher for a special event with the cast on February 17). People who buy all six volumes from participating retailers can receive a text short story by writer Yoshinobu Akita.
The anime premiered in Japan on Saturday. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan, and Funimation will stream a simuldub.
BONES is once again animating the new series. Shigehito Takayanagi (Galaxy Angel A, The World God Only Knows, Dagashi Kashi) takes over as director of the anime from the previous season's Rie Matsumoto, and Yasuko Kamo (Dagashi Kashi) also takes over series composition duties from Kazunao Furuya. Toshihiro Kawamoto returns as character designer and chief animation director, and Taisei Iwasaki returns to compose the music.
Unison Square Garden returns to perform the opening theme song "fake town baby" for the anime. DAOKO and Yasuyuki Okamura performs the anime's ending theme song "Step Up Love."
