Bloomberg Report: Sony Expects PlayStation 5 Will Remain in Short Supply Through 2022

posted on by Adriana Hazra

NDTV Gadgets 360 reported on Monday via Bloomberg News that Sony revealed in a briefing after reporting its financial results on April 28 that the PlayStation 5 will remain in short supply through 2022.

According to the report, Sony Group Corporation CEO Hiroki Totoki stated about the console that the company's "supply wouldn't be able to catch up with demand." He also added that the company has "sold more than 100 million units of the PlayStation 4 and considering [Sony's] market share and reputation, I can't imagine demand dropping easily."

Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 console went live on January 12 at 12:00 p.m. IST and were sold out within minutes. The console officially launched in India on February 2.

The PlayStation 5 is priced at ₹49,990, and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (which does not include the disc slot) is priced at ₹39,990 in India.
