AIC animates promo for Sai Sumimori's novel about world where miso is key to magic

The wraparound jacket band on the second volume of Sai Sumimori's Mahō Tsukai Nara Miso o Kue! (Eat Miso to Become a Sorcerer!) light novel series is announcing that Vocaloid composer kz is scoring the music for the novels' promotional anime. The composer is best known for writing, scoring, and arranging the "Tell Your World" song with the voice of Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku. The musician, who works under the unit name livetune, also contributed to the musc in Oreimo and Digimon Xros Wars: Toki o Kakeru Shōnen Hunter-tachi.

The story of the light novels is set in a world where the existence of magic has been known for a century as a mysterious power to rival science. However, the discovery of MISO — the Material of an Impediment to the Sorcerer's Orders — made magic into not a special power, but a technique that can be developed and nutured. One morning, while Shōta Hacchōya (a high school boy attending a magic academy) was tasting miso soup, a princess of Majieeru suddenly breaks in. Majieeru happens to be the birthplace of magic.

Makoto Bessho (Shangri-La) is directing the promotional anime at AIC, and Toy's Factory is producing the music. Miwa Ōshima (Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts, Koihime Musō) is serving as both character designer and chief animation director.
