Cancelled Metal Gear Solid Fan Remake Returns with David Hayter

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The cancelled Metal Gear Solid Unreal Engine 4 "Shadow Moses" fan remake has reemerged as the The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid. The new project is a virtual reality, first-person museum experience focusing on fan-art gifted from contributors of the "Shadow Moses" project.

Original Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has signed on to contribute to the project. It's slated for release for free for the PC in May.

The "Shadow Moses" project was operating without permission from Konami. They had hoped to get the greenlight from the company to continue their work but staff cited "reasons beyond their control" for shutting down the project in March. The staff did not state that Konami was involved in closing down the project.

David Hayter voiced Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. He also voiced Naked Snake in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The actor was replaced by Kiefer Sutherland in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Since his replacement, Hayter stated in a podcast with GameInformer that he hoped Konami would bring him back for the character now that Hideo Kojima had left the company.
