The September 15, 2016 issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine is announcing on Thursday that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will collaborate with Daichi Sorayomi's Keijo!!!!!!!! (Hip Whip Girl) aquatic sports manga for a series of swimsuit costumes.
The costumes come on the tail of the Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 VR announcement. The game, which boasts the female cast of the Dead or Alive fighting game franchise relaxing on a fanservice-laden beach, will get a VR support update with the launch of the PlayStation VR headset on October 13.
Koei Tecmo published the game exclusively in Japan and Asia for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on March 24. The game's PS Vita version is titled Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Venus, and the PS4 version is titled Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Fortune. The Team Ninja community manager stated in November that the game won't have a stateside release, referencing poor reception in West to how female characters are depicted in video games.
The Keijo!!!!!!!! anime will premiere in October on Tokyo MX and BS11. The manga takes place in an alternate Japan where a sport called "Keijo" by law in 2003 became a sport alongside horse racing, boat racing, and cycling that allows for gambling. In the sport, contestants stand on platforms floating on the water and must use their butts and chests to fight against each other to push each other off the platform. Nozomi Kaminashi, a high school student, aims to join the sport after she graduates. Nozomi was raised in a poor family and hopes to make lots of money by playing Keijo. She grew up training in gymnastics, and she has good balance and flexibility. After high school, Nozomi joins a training boarding school and enters the world of Keijo.
