Oscar-Winning Studio Robot Animates 5th Marukome Miso Ad

Marukome, a food company best known for its Ryōtei no Aji (First-Class Flavor) miso products, is continuing its animated ad campaign with a new commercial. The 30-second and 90-second versions of the "Ryōtei no Aji Mutenka Haha ni Nareba-Hen (Ryōtei no Aji Brand Additive-Free: Becoming a Mother Chapter) ad are streaming on Marukome's website, and will debut on television on April 6.

The latest commercial follows Hisako and her mother. Her mother always puts her family first: she does the laundry, scrubs the bath, tends to her even when she's sick or tired, and makes food. But Hisako doesn't want to be a mom herself, and wonders if her mother ever does anything fun. One day, Hisako returns home and is pregnant with her own child and finally feels that she can relate to her mother as she makes miso soup.

Marukome launched its series of ads in April 2014, and all have focused on families brought together over Marukome products from miso soup to instant noodles. Academy Award-winning Studio Robot returned to animate this new ad. The studio previously worked on Marukome's "Tokyo Chapter" chapter ad. Robot produced Kunio Katō's Oscar-winning short "La Maison en Petits Cubes," Yoshiyuki Tomino's 30th anniversary short "Ring of Gundam," and the anime film Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva.
