Elusive Kemono Friend Tsuchinoko Slithers into Sgt. Frog Manga

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Kemono Friends character designer and Sgt. Frog manga creator Mine Yoshizaki combined his two series in recent chapter of Sgt. Frog. While the Shoebill and Japanese-crested Ibis have appeared in chapters in the past, the most recent brought out the elusive tsuchinoko.

The serpent is one of Japan's Unidentified Mysterious Animals (UMA) described in folklore as a fan of drinking and deceiving humans. The tsuchinoko is a popular urban legend and even has its own festival each year in Higashishirakawa in Gifu prefecture. Yoshizaki drew a large panel of the character for the festival that was held in May.

The Kemono Friends anime, which was part of a multimedia project that included the Nexon smartphone game of the same name, aired from January to March 2017 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. The series is getting a new video project, smartphone game, and stage play.
