Atsushi Ohkubo's Fire Force and Soul Eater manga characters have teamed up in a cross promotion for their respective manga releases. Fire Force protagonist Shinra Kusakabe and Soul Eater heroine Maka Albarn are shown together wearing firefighter jackets. The image will be used for posters put up in bookstores across Japan to promote the 17th volume of Fire Force and the second volume of Soul Eater Complete Edition.
The second volume of Soul Eater Complete Edition goes on sale on July 12 followed by the 17th volume of Fire Force on July 17.
Kodansha Comics publishes the Fire Force manga in English, and it describes the story:
Terror has paralyzed the clockwork metropolis of Tokyo! Possessed by demons, people have begun to burst into flame, leading to the establishment of a special firefighting team: the Fire Force, ready to roll on a moment's notice to fight spontaneous combustion anywhere it might break out. The team is about to get a very unique addition: Shinra, a boy who possesses the unique power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous "devil's footprints" (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can the Fire Force discover the source of this strange phenomenon and put a stop to it? Or will the city burn to ashes first?
Yen Press released all 25 volumes of Soul Eater in English.
The Fire Force anime series will premiere on July 5 and will stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Ohkubo and editor Megumu Tsuchiya will appear at Anime Expo next month. The convention will also host the English dub premiere.
