Aoyama, Chizu to launch Tonari no Seki no Fukami-kun ga Idol ni Naru Kamo Shirenai manga about high school girl trying to make her classmate an idol

The August issue of Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine announced on July 11 that Haruno Aoyama and Haruka Chizu will launch a new manga titled Tonari no Seki no Fukami-kun ga Idol ni Naru Kamo Shirenai (Fukami-kun, the Guy Sitting Next to Me, Might Become an Idol) in the magazine's October issue, which will ship in September. Aoyama is credited for the original work and Chizu is drawing the manga. Chizu also announced the new manga on X (formerly Twitter):

The manga centers on a high school girl otaku of audition programs, who plans to produce and turn her classmate into an idol.

Aoyama launched the Boku wa Chiisana Shotenin (I'm an Inexperienced Bookstore Clerk.) manga in Shueisha's now defunct The Margaret magazine in 2019. The manga ended in its sixth and final compiled book volume in 2023.

Chizu launched the Snow Angel (Kono Setsugen de Kimi ga Waratte Irareru yō ni or literally, May this snowfield keep you smiling all the time) manga in Shogakukan's Cheese! magazine in May 2023. The manga ended in its fourth and final volume, which shipped on December 25.

Viz Media licensed the manga and published the first volume in English on May 13.
