Multi-player action RPG to debut on Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo announced during its Nintendo Direct stream on Friday that Final Fantasy Explorers will debut for the Nintendo 3DS system in Japan this winter.

The trailer highlights gameplay, summons (Ramuh, Shiva and Ifrit) and a multiplayer boss battle with Ifrit. The game's "job system" is influenced by Final Fantasy V. Up to four players can form a party with white mages, black mages, monks, knights, archers, ninjas and paladins. The players' jobs will be familiar ones from the main Final Fantasy series.

Square Enix filed a trademark for Final Fantasy Explorers in the United States on June 20. A price and release date for a Western release has yet to be announced.
