PriPara Idol Anime Gets Theatrical Film Next Spring

The PriPara Special Stage event at the Ciao Summer Festival announced on Saturday that production on a theatrical film version of the PriPara idol anime has been green-lit. The film will open next spring.
The story of the television anime revolves around Lala, an elementary school girl who wants to become an idol in PriPara, a sport that judges girls on their song, dance, and fashion. The invitation to the sport is through a PriPara ticket. Even though elementary school students are not allowed to become PriPara idols, through many events, she passes the audition, and becomes an idol.
The anime adapts Syn Sophia's arcade game PriPara, and it stars:
Chihiro Suzuki (Disgaea, Tales of the Abyss) plays Kuma (lit. 'bear'), Takuma Terashima (Sacred Seven, The [email protected]) plays Usagi (lit. 'rabbit'), Urara Takano (Sakura Wars, Ah! My Goddess) plays Gloria Ogata, Kanae Ito (Shugo Chara!, Nanana's Buried Treasure) return from the earlier Pretty Rhythm franchise as the navigator Meganee Akai, and Junichi Suwabe (Bakuman, Fate/Stay Night) plays the new character Meganii Akai. Similar to Meganee, his name is a pun off of red glasses, and the fact that he is an older man.
i☆Ris performs the opening theme, while Pretty Rhythm girls' group Prizmmy☆ performs the ending theme.
The PriPara television anime just premiered on July 5. Saturday's event also announced that a Live in Christmas concert event will be held this December, similar to the previous concert events for Pretty Rhythm. The 13 monthly DVD volumes for PriPara will each include a limited-edition bromide card, starting on October 24.
