Viz's Shonen Jump to Run ēlDLIVE Manga by Reborn's Amano
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Viz Media announced on Monday that it will run the first three chapters of Akira Amano's ēlDLIVE science-fiction manga in its digital anthology Weekly Shonen Jump. The anthology describes the story:
Chuta Kokonose is an oddball who hears a voice in his head that causes him to get in lots of trouble. But when he meets a strange little blue alien, his life gets really weird!
Amano ended "season 1" of ēlDLIVE on Shueisha's smartphone manga app Jump Live last year. Season 3 debuted as part of Shueisha's "Jump+" digital publication on Monday, but Viz Media confirmed with ANN that it is starting its run with season 1. Viz previously published part of Amano's Katekyo Hitman Reborn! manga and streamed the television anime of this manga.
Viz Media had announced that it will launch a "Jump Start" initiative on September 8. Under this initiative, Viz's digital English anthology Weekly Shonen Jump will run the first three chapters of "almost every single" new series that debuts in Shueisha's original Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan.
Shinsuke Kondō's "ultimate judo manga" Judos already started on September 1. The magazine is also offering the first three chapters of Ippei Goto's Hi-Fi Cluster science-fiction crime manga and Yūto Kubota's Sporting Salt sports medicine manga.
The magazine also announced that Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga will take a one-week break. The series will return on October 6.
