The official website of the live-action Attack on Titan films began streaming a trailer for the second film, Attack on Titan: End of the World, on Wednesday. Australian film distributor Madman Entertainment also began streaming an English-subtitled version of the same trailer on Wednesday. The trailer previews the film's theme song "SOS," by the band SEKAI NO OWARI.

The films' website also began streaming a new 30-second teaser trailer on Wednesday.

Attack on Titan: End of the World will open in Japanese theaters on September 19. The first movie opened in Japan on August 1. It debuted at #1 in the Japanese box-office and earned about 600 million yen (about US$4.8 million) in its first weekend.

The films will play in nearly 300 theaters in the United States and Canada. The first 98-minute film will play on September 30, October 1, and October 7 in the United States, and the second 87-minute film will follow on October 20, 22, and 27. Canada will receive the first film on October 5 and 26, followed by the second film on October 22 and 26.

Hajime Isayama's original Attack on Titan manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves.

Funimation hosted the world premiere of the first film in Hollywood in July. Actor Haruma Miura (Eren), actress Kiko Mizuhara (Mikasa) and director Shinji Higuchi attended the red-carpet premiere. Funimation's license includes theatrical, video-on-demand, home video, and broadcast rights.

Funimation previously streamed a teaser trailer for the two live-action films on Monday.

In the films' third poster above, the tagline reads, "Defy your fate…. If you don't fight, you don't win."

The films star:

Haruma Miura as Eren

Kiko Mizuhara as Mikasa

Kanata Hongo as Armin

Satomi Ishihara as Hans/Hanji

Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha

Takahiro Miura as Jean

Hiroki Hasegawa as Shikishima

Ayame Misaki as Hiana

Pierre Taki as Souda

Jun Kunimura as Kubal

Shu Watanabe as Fukushi

Satoru Matsuo as Sannagi

Rina Takeda as Lil

The cast includes seven characters that are new to the film versions of the story. Hasegawa's character Shikishima holds the key to the films' story as "humanity's strongest man."

Director Shinji Higuchi stated that, with the supervision of Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama, the story is based on the world and characters of the manga, while incorporating new characters and new formidable enemies. Yuusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, live-action Gantz, Gantz II: Perfect Answer, 20th Century Boys, Gatchaman) wrote the scripts. Film critic Tomohiro Machiyama, who is also friends with Isayama, worked on the scripts together with Isayama and Watanabe.

The band SEKAI NO OWARI is contributing the first and second films' theme songs "Anti-Hero" and "SOS," respectively.

Isayama's original Attack on Titan manga has inspired four spinoff manga, a 25-episode television anime version that aired in 2013, and two compilation films, the second of which will open in June. Additionally, a second season of the television anime series is slated to air in 2016. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009.

Kodansha Comics is publishing Isayama's original manga in North America. The company is also releasing three of the four spinoff manga, and the Attack on Titan Guidebooks: INSIDE & OUTSIDE. Vertical is publishing the Attack on Titan: Before the Fall and Attack on Titan: Kuklo Unbound light novels.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the anime version of the manga as it aired in Japan, and Funimation released the series on home video last year.
