Dark Souls III 'Darkness Has Spread' Trailer Confirms April 12 Western Release Date

US/EU limited editions detailed, 4-minute PSX gameplay video also streamed

Bandai Namco Entertainment America began streaming an English "Darkness Has Spread" trailer on Friday for FromSoftware's Dark Souls III PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game. The video confirms the American release date of April 12 for all three platforms. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe also streamed the same trailer on Friday, confirming the same release date for all three platforms in Europe. The European trailer also outlines a special pre-order "Apocalypse Edition" of the game.

FromSoftware also began streaming a PlayStation Experience 2015 gameplay video on Friday.

The "Apocalypse Edition" available in Europe for those who pre-order the game on comes with a metal case and a soundtrack, and will be available for all three platforms.

The "Collector's Edition" in Europe will include: the game, a Red Knight figurine, an A4-size Dark Souls Trilogy hardcover artbook, a metal case, a soundtrack, three iron-on patches, a cloth game map, and an exclusive box.

The "Prestige Edition" in Europe will come with the same extras as the "Collector's Edition," as well as a numbered 40-cm Lord of Cinder hand-painted polystone resin figurine and a special display box.

The U.S. "Day One" edition for PS4 and Xbox One will include: a Prima Starter guide, the soundtrack, and a "Day One Edition O Sleeve."

Hidetaka Miyazaki is directing the game at FromSoftware.

The game will ship in Japan on March 24 for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC release will be available on April 12. A limited number of physical package editions in Japan will come with a specially made map and an original soundtrack CD.

From Software hosted a network test for the PlayStation 4 version of the game on October 16-18.

Dark Souls II debuted in North America, Japan, and Europe last year. The updated Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin debuted in April.
