Band re-records "Re:Re:" after 11 years for time travel series debuting on January 7

The official website for the television anime ERASED (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) began streaming the second full promotional video on Friday. The new video previews Asian Kung-Fu Generation's opening theme song, "Re:Re:".

The band Asian Kung-Fu Generation re-recorded this song after releasing the original version on their second album Sol-fa in 2004. The new version will go on sale as a single on March 16.

The story of Kei Sanbe's original manga follows Satoru, a struggling manga artist who has an ability that forces him back in time to prevent deaths. When his mother is killed he's sent back in time to solve the mystery, but ends up back in elementary school, just before the disappearance of his classmate Kayo.

Aniplex of America licensed the series. The series will begin streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation on January 7, the same day it will debut in Japan on Fuji TV's Noitamina block. Tokyo's Wald 9 theater will host a screening of the first two episodes with a discussion by director Tomohiko Ito and voice cast members Tao Tsuchiya, Shinnosuke Mitsushima, and Chinatsu Akasaki on January 5. Bookstores and anime stores throughout Japan are distributing a free 52-page guide book to the anime:

The cast for the anime includes:

Tomohiko Ito (Sword Art Online, Silver Spoon) is directing the series and Taku Kishimoto (Silver Spoon, Haikyu!!) is handling series composition at A-1 Pictures. Keigo Sasaki (The Seven Deadly Sins, Blue Exorcist) is designing the characters for the anime and Yuki Kajiura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sword Art Online) is composing the music.

Singer-songwriter Sayuri is performing the ending theme song "Sore wa Chiisa na Hikari no yō na" (That was like a small light).

Kei Sanbe began the original manga in 2012 and it is currently serialized in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine. The manga was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize 'Reader Award' in 2014 and this year's Manga Taisho Awards.

A live-action film adaptation starring Tatsuya Fujiwara and Kasumi Arimura will open on March 19, 2016.
