Platinum Games' Lost Order Smartphone Game's Video Reveals Backstory
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Cygames opened a website for Platinum Games' Lost Order smartphone game last week. The site is streaming a prologue video that shows concept art for the game's world with narration.
The video's unnamed narrator describes the history of the game's central setting, the city of Alshrad. Colonized nearly 600 years ago as part of the discovery of the new continent of Ilgadia, Alshrad began as a small port, and became the focal point of immigration from both its mother country and other lands. The discovery of a rich gold vein near the early town drew in more people with the promise of riches and glory, leading to the town's nickname of "Gold Heaven." With the population explosion, poverty eventually grew until the majority of the people in the town were impoverished. Many of the lower classes rallied around idealists and demagogues that preached revolution.
Platinum Games is developing the game. The game is being developed for iOS and Android devices. Yasumi Matsuno (Vagrant Story producer, Final Fantasy XII scenario and supervisor) is serving as development director, and Akihiko Yoshida (Vagrant Story character design, Final Fantasy XII main character design) is the art director.
