Battle Spirits Double Drive: Rokudai Kiseki-hen Manga Ends

posted on by Bayleigh Baker
Compiled volume to ship on April 4

The March issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine published the final chapter of Masato Ichishiki's (Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes, Battle Spirits Saikyō Ginga Ultimate Zero) Battle Spirits Double Drive: Rokudai Kiseki-hen manga series on Friday.

Shueisha will ship the manga's single compiled volume on April 4. Hajime Yatate (the collective pseudonym for Sunrise's staff) is credited with the original work, and Naoki Iwamoto is credited with the main character designs.

Ichishiki launched the Battle Spirits Double Drive: Rokudai Kiseki-hen manga last April after ending the Battle Spirits: Double Drive manga in March 2017. Shueisha published that manga's first and only compiled volume (pictured at right) on April 4. Aside from Battle Spirits Double Drive, Ichishiki previously worked on the Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes manga, which launched in Saikyō Jump in 2012, and ended in 2013. Shueisha published two compiled book volumes for the series.

The story of the original Battle Spirits Double Drive anime begins when the protagonist, a red-haired elementary school boy named Shunta Mogami who loves the Battle Spirits game, is transported by a light from a Battle Spirits card to Spirits World, the origin of all Battle Spirits. He meets a girl named Eto, who claims to have summoned him to Spirits World in order to prevent its destruction at the hands of the revived Evil God-King, who once plotted the destruction of Spirits World before being defeated and sealed away. Together with the confident, green-deck-wielding Yoku Albatrosa, who also came from another world, Shunta sets out to find the twelve God-Kings whose power originally sealed the Evil God-King.

The Battle Spirits anime franchise launched with the 50-episode Battle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin series on September 7, 2008. The anime adapted Bandai's original trading card game, in which cards represent dragons, demons, birds, insects, and other spirits that the players can control in battles. Bandai imported the game to America in 2009.

Battle Spirits Double Drive is the eighth anime series in the franchise. The 51-episode anime aired from April 2016 to March 2017.
