New game titled Umihara Kawase Fresh!

Game developer Success revealed on Wednesday that it will release a new game in its Umihara Kawase platform game series titled Umihara Kawase Fresh! The game will launch in Japan for the Switch in 2019. Success will showcase the game at the Tokyo Game Show event, which runs from September 20 to 23.

The company previously teased a new installment of the game for the Nintendo Switch at the 2017 Tokyo Game Show.

Agatsuma Entertainment released the Umihara Kawase Trilogy game set on PC via Steam in 2015. The set includes Umihara Kawase, Umihara Kawase Shun, and Sayonara Umihara Kawase Chirari. The games were delisted from Steam in January 2016 after Agatsuma Entertainment shut down in December 2015. However, Degica acquired the rights to the games and relisted them on Steam later in January 2016.

In the games, the player controls the sushi chef Kawase Umihara, using her fishing rod to navigate the games' levels. Kiyoshi Sakai developed the game, and Toshinobu Kondō designed the characters and provided illustrations. Both worked on the original 1994 Umihara Kawase game.
