Violet Evergarden special episode premieres concurrently with Japan

Netflix U.S. announced on Wednesday that it will debut the "Violet Evergarden: Special: Extra Episode" on October 4, the same day it debuts in Japan. In addition, it announced that The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, the second television anime series based on Nakaba Suzuki's The Seven Deadly Sins manga, will premiere on October 15.

Netflix included both titles in its October preview video along with Castlevania season 2, which will debut on October 26 as previously announced.

The Violet Evergarden "Extra Episode" anime originally shipped with the television series' fourth Blu-ray Disc and DVD release on July 4. The story of the new episode centers on a letter request from an opera house songstress and takes place over several months between the events of the anime's episodes 4 and 5. The episode previously screened at the "Violet Evergarden Film & Concert" event in Tokyo on July 1.

The anime series premiered on television in Japan on January 10, and launched on Netflix on January 11 in some territories, including Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. The anime launched on Netflix in the United States on April 5.

The anime project is inspiring a film that is slated for a release in Japan in January 2020, and a "same time period" release worldwide.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments premiered in Japan in January with 24 episodes.

The first 24-episode television anime series aired in 2014 and 2015. Netflix later streamed the series with both English and Japanese audio, and Funimation released the series in two parts on home video. A four-episode television anime special titled The Seven Deadly Sins -Signs of Holy War- then premiered in August 2016. Netflix began streaming the series in February 2017.

The manga also inspired the anime film Gekijōban Nanatsu no Taizai: Tenkū no Torawarebito (The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky) that opened in Japan on August 18. As of August 26, the film has earned a cumulative total of 427,180,300 yen (about US$3.84 million).
