Free-to-play online game to launch on Yahoo! Game Plus

Square Enix announced on Wednesday that it is launching the Final Fantasy Digital Card Game, a new free-to-play online game for PCs and smartphones based on its Final Fantasy series, in Japan in 2019. The game will launch on Yahoo! Game Plus, and there will be a closed beta from January 18 to January 25 for up to 10,000 people. Square Enix also opened a website for the game.

The game will feature turn-based gameplay with a time limit and turn limit. Players build their own original decks, and use their cards to call forth pixel art versions of characters from the Final Fantasy series. Summoned creatures from the series will also appear. Cards can be upgraded.
