The 12th and final episode of the first television anime season based on Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) manga revealed on Friday that the anime will get a second season in 2020. The announcement did not reveal any other details.
The anime premiered on January 10. Aniplex of America is streaming the anime on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and HIDIVE as it airs in Japan.
Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen Lied, The Perfect Insider) directed the anime at A-1 Pictures' CloverWorks studio (PERSONA 5 the Animation). Toshiya Ono (Gatchaman Crowds, The Perfect Insider) handled the series composition, Kazuaki Shimada (Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara.) designed the characters for animation, and Takahiro Obata composed the music.
Shirai and Demizu launched The Promised Neverland manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August 2016. Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America digitally and in print.
