2 new voice actor units revealed for franchise

Sega began streaming the second and third episodes of Chokotto Anime Kemono Friends 3, a series of anime shorts for the Kemono Friends 3 arcade and smartphone game, on April 17 an April 27, respectively.

Sega originally announced at the "Niconico Chokaigi" event on April 27 that the franchise is inspiring two new voice actor units. The units include:

"Hanamaru Animal"

  • Kanako Yanagihara as Meerkat
  • Izumi Fuuka as Dhole
  • Rika Tachibana as Peach Panther

"Batten Japari-dan"

  • Yurie Funato as Australian Devil
  • Miki Mirai as Blackbuck
  • Moeka Koizumi as Tasmanian Devil

The new units join the previous voice actor units inspired by the franchise: Dōbutsu Biscuits, PPP, and Gothic×Luck.

Kemono Friends 3 will include both an arcade and a smartphone game, which are accepting pre-registrations. The arcade game is titled Kemono Friends 3: Planet Tours, and the smartphone game titled Kemono Friends 3. The smartphone game will be free to play with optional in-game purchases. Both games will launch this year. The event on April 27 also revealed a new key visual for the arcade version of the game.

Nexon's original Kemono Friends app game launched in early 2016 and ended service in December of that year — before the Kemono Friends anime even aired. The 12-episode television anime then premiered on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in January 2017 and ended in March 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

Kemono Friends 2, the television anime's 12-episode second season, premiered in Japan on January 7. Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide outside of Asia.

The franchise has also inspired other smartphone apps, manga, as well as several stage plays. A Kemono Friends Picross game for Nintendo Switch launched in Japan and in the West on October 4.
