posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
This year's 44th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Monday that Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga is inspiring a stage play adaptation that will run in January in Tokyo and in Hyogo prefecture. Kenichi Suemitsu will script and direct the play, and Shunsuke Wada will compose the music.
Gotouge launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2016. Viz Media is publishing the manga in English digitally and in print.
The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered on April 6, and aired its 26th and final episode on Saturday. Aniplex of America has licensed the series and is streaming the show on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block will premiere the television anime on October 12.
The 26th episode ended on Saturday with an announcement of a sequel anime film that will cover the manga's Demon Train Arc.
