Sentai Filmworks Acquires Hareluya II Boy Anime

posted on by Alex Mateo
25-episode anime premiered in 1997

Sentai Filmworks announced on Monday that it has acquired the Hareluya II Boy anime for distribution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Portugal, Central America, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Spain. The company will stream the anime in select digital outlets and then release it on home video.

Sentai describes the story:

Hareluya Hibino has one ambition in life: to conquer the entire world! Despite his tough exterior, he's not a bad person, and when push comes to shove, he'll do his best to help those in need. Together with aspiring painter Kiyoshiro, Hareluya will take on whatever curveballs life may throw his way.

The 25-episode anime originally aired in Japan in 1997.

Kiyoshi Egami (City Hunter '91) directed the anime at Triangle Staff. Takahiro Kishida (Haikyu!!) designed the characters.

Haruto Umezawa launched the Hareluya II Boy manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1992, and it ran until 1999. The manga is an alternate retelling of Umezawa's Hareluya Boy manga.
