Yonezu Kenshi's Stray Sheep Dominates Year-End Charts, Fortnite Footage Released
New York, NY [December 22, 2020] Japanese singer-songwriter and music producer, Kenshi Yonezu's 5th album, STRAY SHEEP has taken the 2020 music scene by storm. Results from the 2020 year-end charts are coming in and as of December 21st, Yonezu has topped 22 charts. And now, Yonezu has set a new record by topping 3 main categories in the Billboard Japan 2020 year-end charts. As of December 21st, 4:00 AM, Yonezu is the holder of an impressive 22 #1s on respective year-end charts, solid proof he is beloved by many.
Airing from today, December 21st, is a new commercial advertisement using footages from the virtual concert on FORTNITE, an online game platform boasting 350 million players. Having had to make the difficult decision to cancel the rest of his tour following the COVID-19 outbreak, Yonezu's efforts to find a way to convene with everyone whilst physically being apart resulted in this virtual concert that became global news, resulting in Yonezu placing in Forbes Asia's 100 Digital Stars.
The annual year-end message billboard that graced Shibuya Station in the past will be posted this year on the internet, due to the circumstances of this year. In 2020, Yonezu wrote “Kanden” as the theme song to the TBS drama series MIU404. His 5th album STRAY SHEEP was released on August 5th.
STRAY SHEEP shipped out a million copies on the day before the release date and he achieved the million sales mark on August 13th. His album has sold over 1.5 million copies to date and continues to increase sales by the day.
STRAY SHEEP has also been recognized internationally.
