'Ex machina' Rap Duo FEMM Announce the Release of Dark and Emotional '80s Revival Track 'Come&Go'

Japanese female rap duo FEMM released their latest track ‘Come&Go’ today, January 29, 2021. The track is the latest in a string of single and EP releases, as the “ex machina” members of FEMM enter an exciting new phase of creativity. ‘Come&Go’ sees them continue this trend with a dark and emotional '80s revival sound.

The eye-catching cover art for ‘Come&Go’ was produced by London-based illustrator Max Prentis, depicting a devastated Neo Tokyo from a hypothetical cyberpunk future.

Agents around the world can catch FEMM's acoustic livestream series on Instagram every Friday night (US time) – full details can be found on their official Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/femm____/

As a girls' anthem with a darkly humorous message, mannequin rap duo FEMM's acclaimed song ‘Fxxk Boyz Get Money’ found an audience with teens and influencers in the United States, quickly spreading around Europe, South America and Asia. FEMM's debut album Femm-Isation brought Japanese female rap to a whole new audience, reaching the Top 10 of Billboard's World Albums chart in the US.

Since then, FEMM have travelled the world, not only performing on stages in the United States, but also in the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Taiwan and China. FEMM recently updated to FEMM2.0 and continued releasing content on a regular basis.

In November 2020, FEMM released their long-awaited new six-track EP ‘404 Not Found’; the title, named for the error message encountered when trying to access a nonexistent web page, is a reference to FEMM's music that evokes “a brand-new world that has never before existed”.

The production of the EP and its followup single ‘Tic Toc’, released suddenly on Christmas Day 2020, saw FEMM working with some of the world's top creative talents. Some of these producers include DaBaby and Lil Uzi Vert producer StarBoy, Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama trackmaker Danny L Harle, and recent US Gold Record recipient Vedo. A variety of talent from Japan also worked on the releases, including current Japanese hip hop scene innovator KM, and Duke of Harajuku from up-and-coming label tokyovitamin.

These releases also saw FEMM work with visual collaborators from the UK to create their colorful yet disturbing worldview born from internet culture via vaporwave and '80s revival aesthetics. These include Weirdcore (Aphex Twin, Radiohead, The 1975), and global game designer and cyberpunk photo pioneer Liam Wong, who was selected for Forbes' 30 Under 30, listing 30 people under the age of 30 who have changed the world.

With their aggressive musicality, dark worldview and forward-thinking hyper pop sound, FEMM are attracting widespread attention from domestic and foreign media and agents alike. Plug in, turn up and let the two mannequins of FEMM take you to an alternate world, where the boundaries between human and machine, virtual and reality, and even language itself are blurred.
