Japanese-Chinese Boyband WARPs UP Announce ‘trilogy’ of Cover Songs, Starting with Chinese-Language Self-Cover of ‘Fruits Basket’ Anime Theme ‘Pleasure’
LANGYI and MINGJUN, the two Chinese members of Japanese-Chinese boys collective WARPs UP, have begun a new covers project, with a “trilogy” of songs planned! The first release is a Chinese-language self-cover of ‘Pleasure’, the opening theme tune for anime series ‘Fruits Basket: The Final’, which began airing in April.
This new version retains the original song's message that the future is ours to change, no matter the hand of fate – but it adds piano-centric acoustic instrumentation and a summery new arrangement, resulting in a song that shows glimpses of a bright future.
The music video continues the spirit of LANGYI's popular ‘WARPs UP Vocal Club’ cover video series that was released on YouTube in May, in which LANGYI sang alone with his microphone in an intimate setting; this time, he is joined in a similar setting by his bandmate MINGJUN. The new version of ‘Pleasure’ and its music video combine the best of the original track with a fresh summer vibe that is perfect for sunny days.

This is the first in a trilogy of acoustic cover songs by the two Chinese members of WARPs UP, with each song selected by LANGYI and MINGJUN and sung in their native tongue. The following two releases will be announced soon, and will be covers of hit songs that you will almost certainly know.
WARPs is an abbreviation of Wind Assemble Radical People-syndicate, with the concept of “creating a wind of innovation”. Rather than forming groups with fixed lineups, its members work together in different permutations. As one, this group of talented individuals are stronger than the sum of their parts. They aim to create a new world that reflects their values, transcending existing genres and boundaries. The group WARPs UP are one of the various units under the WARPs umbrella.
