Western Japan's Biggest Manga/Anime Event Holds Crowdfunding Campaign

Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair supporters get gifts from Nobuhiko Okamoto, Manaka Iwami

The Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KYOMAF) announced on Thursday that it will be running a crowdfunding campaign from July 10 to September 30. The organizers aim to raise 4 million yen (about US$28,000) for the continued growth of the KYOMAF and to support young creators. The theme for the crowdfunding campaign is “supporting young creators who will shape the future from Kyoto.”

KYOMAF announced 35,000 yen, 30,000 yen, and 3,000 yen (about US$243, US$209, and US$21, respectively) pledge tiers. Each pledge tier comes with a crowdfunding exclusive postcard, clear file folder, image to share on social media, and a thank you email. Pledgers at the 3,000-yen tier will also receive a smartphone wallpaper. 30,000-yen tier pledgers will also receive a commemorative autograph board from Special Ambassadors Nobuhiko Okamoto and Manaka Iwami, KYOMAF ticket, Special Ambassador version smartphone wallpaper, their name published on the official website, and crowdfunding-exclusive acrylic keychain. The 35,000-yen tier features a ticket to the fair's ending stage event, farewell greeting from the Special Ambassadors, KYOMAF ticket, Special Ambassador version smartphone wallpaper, their name published on the official website, and crowdfunding-exclusive acrylic keychain.

KYOMAF plans additional pledge tiers. As of press time, the pledge amount and full investor return list has not been announced. However, planned returns include:

Commemorative autographed board with thank your messages by Okamoto and Iwami
Commemorative Polaroid photo with thank you messages from the Okamoto and Iwami
Ambassadors' farewell greeting
Access to Opening stage event's front viewing area
Ambassadors' memorial group photo
Ambassadors-produced Kyoto traditional crafts
Extra KYOMAF ticket
Tsukasa Kyono (Kyoto City's Public Relations Mascot) or Moe Uzumasa (Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau's subway and city bus mascot) merchandise
Same-day support (scheduled to be held only at the Kyomaf main venue)

KYOMAF 2025 is set to take place from September 20 to 21 at the Miyak Messe/ROHM Theatre Kyoto and Kyoto International Manga Museum in Kyoto, Japan. Tickets will go on sale in mid-July.
