New Mario Float to Debut in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade
posted on by Ken Iikura-Gross
Nintendo of America announced on Friday that the Super Mario Bros. title character Mario will appear at the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®. Mario's appearance at the annual event celebrates the franchise's 40th anniversary. (Mario first appeared in Donkey Kong in 1981, four years before the first Super Mario Bros. game.)

Along with Nintendo's iconic mascot, the Goku, Luffy, and Pikachu & Eevee floats are set to return to the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®. The Pikachu & Eevee float debuted in 2021 with the iconic Pokémon riding a sleigh together. The Luffy float debuted in 2023 following the release of the live-action One Piece series on Netflix. The current Goku float saw its debut in 2024. A Super Saian Blue version of the Dragon Ball character traveled the parade route between 2018 and 2023.
