Tougen Anki's First Game is for Hardcore Tougen Anki Fans Alone
by Richard Eisenbeis,

On it's most basic level, Tougen Anki Crimson Inferno plays a lot like Fate/Grand Order. You select a mission and load into a battle. You then have a selection of cards that represent the characters' various attacks. Chose three of these (or two in one-versus-one battles) and watch as your characters attack (and subsequently get attacked when it's the enemy's turn).
Of course, you don't want to just pick cards at random. Each card has a color and a type. Match 3 of either and their effects are made stronger—doubly so if they're associated with the same character. Moreover, the attacks are all taken right out of the Tougen Anki anime and manga—so you'll get to see some of your favorite scenes recreated mid-battle.
And that's only the start of what's taken directly from the source material and remade in the game. The story mode directly follows the battles seen in the anime and has a ton of 3D animated cutscenes. The ones shown in the TGS demo were fully voiced as well. The only issue with these 3D cutscenes—and the 3D models used in the game in general—is that, while they are highly detailed, there is also a fair amount of objects clipping through other objects (especially on clothing). It makes the game look more than a little unpolished.
Aside from the cutscene-filled story missions, there are non-story missions where you pick a team of three characters and send them against random enemies to grind for the games various level up materials.
All in all, if your a big fan of Tougen Anki, you'll probably like this game—especially if card-based RPGs are your thing. But if not, this game isn't likely to pull you in.
