posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

A flyer from NBC Universal's booth at the AnimeJapan 2018 event revealed on Thursday that the television anime adaptation of Happy Elements' Last Period: Owari naki Rasen no Monogatari (Last Period: The Story of an Endless Spiral) smartphone role-playing game will run for 12 episodes.

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX and ABC Asahi Broadcasting on April 11, and on BS11 on April 12.

Happy Elements is credited with the original work, and whoopin is credited with the character designs. Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina, Hayate the Combat Butler, Miss Monochrome) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. EGG FIRM is producing. Hideki Shirane (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Hayate the Combat Butler) is handling the series composition, and Mika Takahashi (Twin Angels BREAK character designer) is adapting whoopin's designs for animation and serving as chief animation director. Manual of Errors (Magimoji Rurumo, Tamako Love Story) is composing the music at NBCUniversal Entertainment, and Yoshikazu Iwanami (Sword Art Online, Psycho-Pass) is the sound director at Magic Capsule.

Natsuki Hanae and Yukari Tamura are performing the anime's opening theme song "Yokubari Dreamer" (Greed Dreamer).

Happy Elements launched the game in May 2016, and it has more than 5 million downloads. The story takes place in a world where fantastic beasts called "Spirals" are born from isolation. Those who can defeat the beasts are called "Periods." Haru is an apprentice Period who belongs to the Arc End 8th Branch. However, after a mysterious theft incident, there is an economic collapse, and the Arc End headquarters abandons the 8th Division, leaving only three Periods left, including Haru. Haru and the other two Periods start their work to rebuild the 8th Division.
