Star Driver Studio to Job Seekers: Do the Kiraboshi Pose (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The anime studio Bones announced on Thursday that it is recruiting two to three contract animators who will start working next spring. Applicants must submit resumes, health certificates, transcripts, proof of graduation — and self-portraits of themselves doing the "Kiraboshi" ("glittering star"), the trademark pose from Bones' new Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto anime series. In addition to drawing themselves making the hand gesture, job seekers must also "like drawing action sequences and visual effects."
The hand gesture is the secret sign between members of a mysterious organization called Kiraboshi Jūjidan ("Order of the Glittering Star Cross"). The anime's main protagonist Takuto Tsunashi fights against the Kiraboshi Jūjidan with a "Cybody" humanoid robot machine to protect a girl named Wako.
Earlier this month, the official website announced a separate Kiraboshi Jūjidan promotional campaign. To receive four exclusive mobile phone wallpaper images, fans must "enlist" in the organization by first finding a DVD store clerk wearing the red Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto apron. Then the person must say "Kiraboshi!" and make the hand gesture to the store clerk. (The advertising warns fans not to accost people not wearing the apron and not to say "Umeboshi!" or "Pickled Plum!" Masks are optional.)
People who successfully complete the enlistment procedure will be allowed to scan a QR code off the shop clerk's apron with their phones to access the wallpaper images.

Update: Aniplex's Cybody spelling used. Thanks, pantsmca.
