Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle PS3 Game Outlined

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Characters Giorno Giovanna, Guido Mista, Noriaki Kakyouin, Jean Pierre Polnareff join latest fighting game

The Japanese video game news website Famitsu revealed more information about the upcoming JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle fighting game for the PlayStation 3 console on Wednesday. The game will include four new characters: Giorno Giovanna, Guido Mista, Noriaki Kakyouin, and Jean Pierre Polnareff.

The game will feature a "style" button that, when used, allows the characters to launch into their own battle style. For example, when pressed, Jōtarō Kūjō will use his Stand power, and Joseph Joestar will use his Ripple power.

The game screen will have four gauges (pictured at right): a strength gauge that, when depleted, leaves character beyond recovery; a guard gauge, which depletes as the character guards opponents' attacks and restores itself while the player is not guarding; a "heartbeat" gauge, which fills up as the player lands successful hits and allows characters to use a "heartbeat attack" and a "great beat attack"; and a character-specific gauge that allows the character to execute special moves, such as Joseph Joestar's Ripple power.

The player can invoke a character's "stylish move" pose (pictured at left) by guarding and avoiding opponents' attacks. The move uses up some of the character's guard gauge, but makes it possible to avoid damage while also mocking an opponent. The game will also feature special poses to provoke an opponent, and it will feature both difficult and easy executable combinations for players of all skill levels.

Cyberconnect 2 is developing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle for Bandai Namco Games. Hiroshi Matsuyama is directing the game, and Yūsuke Sasaki and Yoshiya Tanaka are serving as producers. The game is slated to be released next year.

Famitsu is currently hosting a gallery of high-resolution screenshots from the game on its website.

The game was announced at the same time that a new television anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga was revealed. That series from david production will premiere in October.

CAPCOM released the HD version of its 1999 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future on the PlayStation Network last month.
