Man Rearrested for Uploading One Piece, Berserk Manga

posted on by Egan Loo

The 25-year-old Nagasaki Prefecture man who was arrested for allegedly selling pirated manga on DVD-R has been arrested again for new charges: copying and offering manga for download without authorization. The Nagasaki police arrested book-digitizing businessman Makoto Fujino on suspicion of scanning books and uploading their scans onto a server for others to download.

According to the authorities, the suspect scanned and uploaded the first 10 volumes of One Piece on December 14, 2012, and the first 10 volumes of Berserk and February 20, 2013. He allegedly offered the downloads as a limited-time bonus for members of his service, by sending them email messages with the addresses to download the scans.
