Robotech, Voltron Combine for Crossover Comic

posted on by Egan Loo
Dynamite Entertainment to mix 2 franchises cobbled from 5 robot anime titles

The American comic book company Dynamite Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it will release a crossover comic book series between Robotech and Voltron. Both of these franchises are themselves the composites of several different Japanese animated series, although most Voltron tie-ins — including this one — have focused on one component, Lion Force Voltron or Voltron of the Far Universe. According to Dynamite, "this crossover marks the first time uniting the popular Robotech cast with the five lions of Voltron, a fan-favorite World Events Production property."

Dynamic Entertainment sublicensed the rights to publish Robotech comics from DC Entertainment and Harmony Gold USA, and it has already published Voltron comics. Dynamite Entertainment plans to publish a new Robotech comic series after the crossover series.

Voltron was the 1984-1985 American adaptation of the King of Beasts Golion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV robot anime series. Similarly, Robotech was the 1985 American adaptation of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada robot anime series.
