Angry Birds Transform Into Autobots, Decepticons

posted on by Chris Nishijima
The war between the Autobots and Decepticons takes a turn for the angry.

As time passes, technology evolves, and so do our ways of keeping ourselves busy. There's no way to deny that our smartphone dependent society has been pulled into the new era of portable time-killers. While some may argue about whether or not it's a good thing, the smartphone revolution has put games into the hands of casual gamers everywhere in the form of apps. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the curious case of Angry Birds. But everyone's favorite disgruntled avian friends have decided to take things a little bit further, revealing a side that's a bit more mechanical than we're used to seeing in them.

Introducing Angry Birds: Transformers, the latest addition to the Angry Birds franchise. Announced just this month, the game will chronicle the ongoing struggle between the "Autobirds" and the "Deceptihogs," as part of game developers Rovio Entertainment's current partnership with toy company Hasbro.

Angry Birds released their first major collaborative crossover back in November of 2012 when they decided to team up with LucasArts to bring us Angry Birds Star Wars. The upcoming Angry Birds: Transformers will utilize the Hasbro "telepod" system, which was first released in conjunction with the second edition of Angry Birds Star Wars. The system allows the player to summon special characters using the QR codes built into physical figures designed and distributed by Hasbro.

While there is no official release date as of yet, the official site assures us that the game will be available through app stores soon. Keep an eye out on their page for more development and announcements soon. Autobirds, roll out!
