Platinum Games Releases 2D Bayonetta Remake

posted on by Chris Nishijima
Everyone's favorite femme fatale returns in pixelated form.

Game developer Platinum Games may not be the oldest members on the scene, but they've gained enough of a reputation from fans to be expected to make quality pieces of entertainment for everybody. The company is of course known for one of its most creative and visually stunning games Bayonetta. While many fans are still raving over last year's release of Bayonetta 2, it seems like Platinum Games wanted to give their bodacious heroine a bit of a retro remake with a new 8-bit minigame version.

The game itself, while being extremely simple in terms of mechanics, is in fact rather difficult. You play as a relatively stationary Bayonetta whose only options are to jump and double jump using the space bar and shoot using the Enter key as Angels rush you in this pseudo-bullet hell. Still, while the concept may be easy to pick up, many fans have found themselves unable to make it very far in the game at all, as a single hit can kill you. Some Twitter fans have mentioned getting Game Overs with relatively low scores and being extremely vexed with the flying Angels.

On the page in question, Platinum Games also placed a link to a recent promotional video that they did which gives an interesting look into the minds of their game developers as they work towards creating new games that they hope will capture the hearts of this generation, as well as show how far the video game industry has come.

The 8-bit Bayonetta remake can be found on Platinum Games' 404 page and will show up whenever someone navigates somewhere that doesn't exist on Platinum Games' site. For a look at the latest game in the series, check out ANN's review of the WiiU exclusive Bayonetta 2.
