Shinkai blockbuster ranked at number nine by British film reviewer
The British film reviewer Mark Kermode has included Makoto Shinkai's your name. in his list of the Top Ten films of 2016 (at number 9).
In the video, Kermode argues that it does Shinkai no favours to describe him as a new Miyazaki, "since his work is so completely different." He describes your name. itself as "really intelligent and thought-provoking, but the animation is sweeping and wonderful." (Kermode's full review of the film is here.)
Last year, Kermode chose Isao Takahata's The Tale of the Princess Kaguya as one of the Top Ten films of 2015.
