Pokémon Player Maxes Out Pokéwalker After 7 Years

After seven years of dedication, Twitter user @suica_pokeca managed to max out the step tracker on their Pokéwalker. The Pokémon player posted images on Tuesday to mark the accomplishment.

There is no confirmation whether @suica_pokeca walked or shook their way to the achievement. However, their Pokéwalker recorded 9,999,999 steps, which is the maximum for the device. The pictured Pokéwalker recorded 65,583 hours of activity and offered the message "Congrats!" The dedicated player earned a total of 356,170 watts on the device.

Players can transfer Pokémon to the accessory to earn experience for each step. For every 20 steps the Pokéwalker records, players also earn one watt of currency. Additionally, players can catch Pokémon and obtain items with the device. The daily step count affects which Pokémon and items appear on the Pokéwalker.

The Pokéwalker pedometer peripheral debuted with the Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Nintendo DS games in Japan in September 2009. The games and device then launched in North America, Europe, and Australia in March 2010.

The Pokémon Go Plus accessory for Niantic's Pokémon Go smartphone debuted on September 16 after a delay. The device tracks the distances that players travel and allows them to catch Pokémon and spin Pokéstops without looking at their smartphones. The Pokémon Go app launched for the Apple Watch in December with similar functionality to the Pokémon Go Plus.
