Date Voice Actors at Cheese! Magazine's Manga Exhibit

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Have you wondered what it would be like to date a Japanese voice actor? Now you can get the next best thing at the "Ikebo x Shojo Manga Genga-ten" exhibit, which will be held at the Ikebukuro Parco department store in Tokyo from February 16 to March 31.

Shogakukan's Monthly Cheese! magazine is holding the exhibit, and it will feature illustrations from all of the magazine's manga creators. Such exhibits are popular date spots in Japan, but even people who don't have significant others are still in luck for the upcoming event.

The exhibit is offering "date-style voice guides" with recordings of popular voice actors. The seven participating voice actors include Kenichi Suzumura, Ryūsei Nakao, and Shōta Aoi. Fans can get the experience of going through the manga exhibit on a special date, all without the anxiety of being with an actual celebrity. The available voice guides will change depending on the day, so fans can return to the exhibit if they want to date all the voice actors. People who choose to go on dates with all the voice actors will be able to enter a lottery for a chance to win paper boards signed by all seven voice actors.

The exhibit will display about 700 illustrations, and it will have a manga reading corner. To name a few, the manga on display will include Miki Aihara's From Five to Nine, Kotomi Aoki's Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru, and Takara Akegami's Coffee & Vanilla. The first people to arrive every day will receive one-chapter "special comics" for the manga on display. Merchandise such as clear files and reproduction illustrations will be available for purchase.
