Isekai Novel, Manga Follow Overworked Man Reborn as Dog

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

A lot of people think that their dogs have it made. While having meals hand-delivered, sleeping much of the day, and carrying virtually no responsibilities, dogs make adults jealous. That notion may be what inspired Wanwan Majin's original Wanwan Monogatari - Kanemochi no Inu ni Shite to wa Itta ga, Fenrir ni Shiro to wa Ittenē! (Ruff Ruff Story: I Said Make Me a Rich Man's Dog, But I Didn't Say Make Me Fenrir!) novels and their new manga adaptation. Kiki Nōguchi launched the manga on Kadokawa's ComicWalker website and app on Monday.

The isekai fantasy story centers on a man who dies due to overwork, a phenomenon that has unfortunately become a known problem in Japan. Just before dying, the man thought that if he was reincarnated, he would want to live the lazy life of a rich man's dog. His wish is granted, but it doesn't turn out the way he anticipated. He comes back to life in another world as Rōta, a dog who belongs to the daughter of an extremely wealthy person. However, at just one month old, he is easily larger than a human, and he realizes he is no ordinary dog.

The second chapter of Nōguchi's manga will launch on March 26.

Wanwan Majin's original novels debuted with Kochimo's illustrations on the Syosetsuka ni Narou website in March 2017, and the 45th installment launched on Monday. Kodansha released second volume in print on Thursday.
