Battle Angel Alita Creator Draws Live-Action Film Visual

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Battle Angel Alita creator Yukito Kishiro revisited Iron City and the world of his manga in a new visual drawn for Robert Rodriguez's live-action film.

Kishiro's drawing is based on the designs from the new film with Rose Salazar in the starring role as Alita. The character is shown holding the Damascus Blade with the floating city of Zalem in the background. The image will be featured on the cover of Kodansha's fifth issue of Evening magazine set for release on February 12.

If the Damascus Blade catches your eye, you might be able to find a 1/1-scale replica on sale soon. Weta Workshop created a limited number of stainless steel swords for sale on its website. The pre-orders are now closed but you'll likely find some floating around the internet soon. If you want to get the perfect prop for your cosplay, US$99 ABS prop replicas are still for sale on Weta Workshop's site.

Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita manga (originally published as GUNNM in Japan) ran in Shueisha's Business Jump magazine from 1990 to 1995. The live-action adaptation will release in the United States on February 14, and in Japan on February 22.
