A group of voice actors have signed up to get spooked on NHK next week. The station will air a two-part program titled Seiyū × Kaidan (literally "Voice Actor x Ghost Stories") on August 14 and 15. The show will cover both modern horror like The Ring and classic spine-chillers with popular voice actors acting out the roles.

The "Red Ghost Story" segment will air first and include six stories with Megumi Ogata, Ayana Taketatsu, Hiroshi Kamiya, Houko Kuwashima, Kotono Mitsuishi, and Shūichi Ikeda. The second night will add Yūji Ueda to the line-up.

Megumi Ogata (Evangelion) and Ayana Taketatsu (Sword Art Online) perform "The 108th Graduate," a story originally published in Emi Ishikawa's Zekkyō Gakkyū horror manga. The story takes place during an elementary school's graduation day. Popular classmate Rina is the representative for the graduating class of 107 students. After the ceremony, she and her friends look through their graduation album but Rina notices there's something different about her pictures. Her version shows something like a shadow with long, curly hair. She goes to the staff room to get a replacement album she encounters someone's parents. They'd come to report their daughter Reiko, a girl with curly hair, went missing over summer vacation...

The Bakeneko of Saga

Kotono Mitsuishi (Sailor Moon) tells the tale of a yokai. A black cat witnessed the death Matashichirō by his lord. Ever since, the people of Saga prefecture have been under attack by a black cat-like monster. A subordinate to the lord named Hanzaemon Komori begins looking for a way to end the monster's reign of terror. He notices strange activity occurring near the lord's wife's dwelling and his investigation reveals the truth behind the bakeneko's identity.

Car Wreck Woman

Shūichi Ikeda (One Piece) tells a story from Motosuke Takaminato's Kyō no Hon manga. One night, the protagonist hits a woman with his car causing her to be pinned to a wall. She isn't dead and begins talking to the driver only for him to notice that she's severed at the waist and her legs are far from the rest of her torso. She is unaware that she's died. While the driver is in the hospital, he sees the woman and she refers to the driver by her fiance's name. When he leaves the hospital, he decides to visit the fiance to apologize but something even more unexpected happens.
