Kazahaya spent 15 years in executive leadership roles at Toei Animation, including as the director of its international business. Kazahaya praised ZAG's previous work in a statement saying that the "groundbreaking global success of Miraculous has revealed the immense potential of blending Western animation with the soul of Japanese manga and anime."
ZAG Japan will also partner with Japanese talent agency Highway Star. JAM Project's Hironobu Kageyama (Dragon Ball Z, One-Punch Man, Kamen Rider SD) is already signing up to perform theme songs for the new company's productions.
ZAG Entertainment founder Jeremy Zag stated that the launch of ZAG Japan will enable the company to “explore the emotional depth and artistic beauty of Japanese storytelling by developing manga, anime series, and traditional animation films.”
Toei Animation is credited as co-producing the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir animated series with ZAG Entertainment. Koma Warita and Riku Tsuchida launched a manga adaptation of the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir animated series in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in January 2021. The company shipped the third compiled volume of the manga in June 2023. Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English.
