ADV to can Edits

posted on

According to a post on the Anime on DVD discussion forum and ADV representative has announced that the company will no longer be placing the much maligned digital overlays in their titles to replace Japanese Kanji.

"[...] word has come down that going forward, ADV will NOT be overlaying text in any more videos."

Digital Overlays of this type were most notably used in Evangelion and Nadesico, Chris Beveridge of Anime on DVD believes " ...that the remainder of Neon Genesis Evangelion will not have overlays, but the already started (and extremely text heavy) Martian Successor Nadesico will retain their overlays."
