The North American anime distributor ADV Films has announced that it is streaming anime on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch mobile devices through the free vSNAX Videos application. The Anime! channel in vSNAX Video currently hosts sequential clips of Azumanga Daioh, Mythical Detective Loki, and Saiyuki. The channel also has the Gun Frontier anime from the distributor Gong Anime TV.

ADV began offering anime clips on Sprint mobile devices for a monthly fee in 2006. The Japanese publisher Kodansha and the mobile application providers Bbmf and Sonoran Blue have been posting manga for Japanese iPhones and iPod Touch since the official online iTunes App Store launched in July. Serial Experiments Lain anime designer Yoshitoshi ABe self-published his own dōjinshi manga in the App Store in 20 countries, including the United States and Canada, in August.
