The streams will begin on January 4 at 11:00 a.m. ET. for premium members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, The Netherlands, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. The streams will then start for free members one week later.
Mari Matsuzawa's original manga revolves around a girl named Mitsuki Kanzaki (played by Chinami Hashimoto), who lives with her step-brother Yūya (Junji Majima) after her mother remarries. One day, Mitsuki is possessed by the self-proclaimed spirit of a young girl, Hiyori Kotobuki (Yui Ogura). Hiyori (in Mitsuki's body) must fall in love with Yūya to move towards the "Gates of Heaven."
Hisako Kanemoto (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet's Amy, Squid Girl's title character) also stars as Yukina Kiritani, Yūya's childhood friend.
A live-action film adaptation of the manga will open next spring.
