Dragon Crisis! director Hideki Tachibana directs anime at SILVER LINK, CONNECT

Shogakukan began streaming a promotional video on Monday for the original video animation (OVA) volume that will come bundled with limited edition copies of the 12th compiled volume of Haro Aso's survival suspense manga Alice in Borderland (Imawa no Kuni no Alice).

Ryōhei: Borderland...?
Saori: That's the name of the place we're in right now.
Ryōhei: A release from the trivial world. Rejection of reality. Chunibyo (someone who is lost in their own anime-like fantasies). Peter Pan Syndrome. It doesn't matter what you call it.
Text: Violent survival/suspense
Ryōhei: A game!? What kind of game is this!?
Daikichi: I'm totally over it now, Arisu!
Chōta: They didn't have any intention of letting us give up from the start!
Saori: I guess we're both in the same boat of fate.
Text: Think
Text: About what is seen by everyone
Text: But no one has seen!
Ryōhei: Is it weird that I'm getting excited, even though we're in this weird situation...?

Three episodes of the original video anime are scheduled to be produced, and the anime will be bundled with the limited edition packages of the manga's 12th, 13th, and 14th compiled volumes. The 12th volume of the manga bundled with the first episode of the video anime will ship in Japan on October 17.

The cast includes Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ryōhei Arisu, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Daikichi Karube, Tsubasa Yonaga as Chōta Segawa, and Maaya Sakamoto as Saori Shibuki. Hideki Tachibana (Dragon Crisis!, H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~) will direct the anime at SILVER LINK and CONNECT from scripts by Ryosuke Nakamura (Aiura, Mirage of Blaze). Tomoko Sudo (Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW, Wagnaria!! key animation) is designing the characters, and Kazuya Iwai (Hatsukoi Limited, Bakuman.) is taking the position of director of photography. Masanori Tsuchiya is in charge of sound effects, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Meganebu!, Blue Spring Ride) is composing the soundtrack.

The manga revolves around Ryōhei Arisu (pronounced the same way in Japanese as "Alice"), a male high school student who is irritated with his intolerable everyday life. One night, he tags along with his bad friend Karube and Chōbe to hang out in town. However, the town is suddenly covered in giant fireworks, and when he came to his senses, Ryōhei noticed that no one else was around. Finding themselves in a different world, Ryōhei, Karube, and Chota are forced to participate in survival games, or die off the bat. The three fight to live, as well as find a way back to their own world.

Asō began serializing the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday S (formerly Shōnen Sunday Chō) in 2010, and he is also writing a series of special stories that are being published in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine once a month. Shogakukan shipped the 11th compiled volume of the manga in Japan on June 18.
