Additions are part of of 6-part Library Expansion Project by Crunchyroll

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it added the Space Adventure Cobra and Cat's Eye television anime series to its catalog. Both anime are available for premium and free users in the United States and Canada, and Crunchyroll is streaming both anime with English subtitles.

The additions are the first of a six-part Library Expansion Project by Crunchyroll.

The 1982 Space Adventure Cobra series is based on Buichi Terasawa's manga of the same name about a space pirate and his female android partner. The Space Adventure Cobra - The Movie anime film opened alongside the series in the same year.

Crunchyroll describes the series:

Seeking reprieve from a painfully ordinary 9-to-5 existence, mild-mannered office worker Johnson visits the TM Corporation, a company that sells virtual dreams. In Johnson's dream adventure, he's the notorious space pirate Cobra! Accompanied by his android partner Lady Armaroid, Cobra fights the lowlife scum of the Pirate Guild by day and saves sultry sirens of space by night. After the journey is over, events unfold that bring reality into focus. His experience wasn't a dream at all – it was a reawakening of his buried past!

Right Stuf released the series on two DVD sets in 2014.

Crunchyroll previously streamed the 2008 Cobra The Animation: The Psychogun and 2009 Cobra The Animation: Time Drive video sequel series, as well as the 2010 Cobra The Animation television anime series.

The Cat's Eye television anime series is based on Tsukasa Hōjō's manga of the same name. The first 36-episode season aired between 1983-1984, and the second 37-episode season aired from 1984-1985. Yoshio Takeuchi (Oishinbo, Night Head Genesis) directed the first season and Kenji Kodama (City Hunter, Tales of the Abyss) directed the second season. Tokyo Movie Shinsha animated the series.

Crunchyroll describes the series:

Cat's Eye is the most notorious group of art thieves in Japan. No one knows their identities, but for most of Tokyo, the mystery only heightens their allure. To bumbling detective Utsumi Toshio, Cat's Eye is a colossal pain in the neck. They outwit him and the rest of the police at every turn, making them look ridiculous. He would never dream of being in love with someone in Cat's Eye. Except he already is.

ImaginAsian Entertainment previously released the series on subtitled-only DVD in 2007, and Right Stuf and Nozomi Entertainment re-released the series on two DVDs in July and November 2014.
