2 Mr. Osomatsu Character Books Rank #1, #2 on Weekly Book Chart

Karamatsu book ranks #1 with 36,000 copies, Osomatsu book at #2 with 35,000

Two character books for the Mr. Osomatsu anime ranked #1 and #2 on Oricon's overall weekly book chart for the week of May 23-29. The Karamatsu character book topped the ranking with 36,000 copies sold, while the Osomatsu character book ranked second with 35,000 copies sold.

The books each focus on one of the six Matsuno brothers, containing illustrations, pin-ups, and explanations of the characters. Shueisha published both books on May 25. Shueisha will publish two more character books this month and the last two in July.

The first volume of Masako Shitara's manga adaptation of the Mr. Osomatsu anime also shipped on May 25, and sold 43,000 copies to rank at #16 on Oricon's weekly comic ranking.

Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime centered on the Matsuno household, which has six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets). All of the sextuplets, including the eldest Osomatsu, are all in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old.

The Mr. Osomatsu show re-imagines the original manga and TV anime with the sextuplets as adults. The series premiered last October. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.
